Union Public Service Commission has released the notification for Civil Service Preliminary Examination 2021. Candidates can apply online through the official website of the commission or a direct link also given in this article. The last date for the online application is 24th March 2021 till 6:00 PM. UPSC Civil Service Prelims Exam is scheduled to be held on June 27th, 2021. Candidates who qualify for the prelims exam will be eligible for the Civil Service Mains Exam conducted on September 17, 2021. UPSC Civil Services Prelims (CSP) exam is conducted for Indian Administrative Services and Indian Forest Services.

Total Number of Vacancies.

According to the official notifications released by the commission, UPSC is expected to fill close to 90 vacancies in the Indian Forest Services and approximately 712 vacancies in the Indian Civil Services, which also includes 22 vacancies for people with benchmark disabilities.

UPSC Civil Services: Age Limit

A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained 32 years on August 1, 2021, i.e. he must have been born not earlier than August 2, 1988, and not later than August 1, 2000. For relaxation on the upper age limit, candidates can check age Eligibility here.

Educational Eligibility

For Indian Civil Services, the candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree from any recognized university in India.

For Indian Forest Services, the candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree with at least one of the subjects, namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering.

UPSC Civil Services: Number of Attempts

Every candidate appearing for the UPSC Civil Services examination will be permitted six attempts at the examination.

The number of attempts permissible to candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes is nine. The relaxation will be available to the eligible candidates to avail of reservations applicable to such candidates.

There is no restriction on the number of attempts in Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates.

Candidates of Persons with Benchmark Disability will get as many attempts as are available to other candidates who do not belong to Persons with Benchmark Disability of their community. A candidate of Persons with Benchmark Disability category belonging to the General Category will be eligible for nine attempts.
